NEIGHBORHOODS
AND DISTRICTS
Lower Downtown Historic District—A
decade ago this area was known as skid row. Now its nickname
LoDo is synonymous with trendy boutiques, wine bars, restaurants
and nightclubs. LoDo stretches between Wynkoop and Larimer
Streets, from 14th to 20th Streets, and is the place to
stroll in Denver—day or night. This area was developed
in the 1860s and has the oldest core of commercial buildings
in Colorado. Most are red brick, and some are Victorian
in style, with unusual architectural features. If you have
time, consider taking a self-guided walking tour. Maps are
available at most restaurants, shops and bookstores in the
area. |
